new bmw cars

The BMW 1 Series was launched in September 2004 with the brand slogan 'the only 1'. Described as “Agile and Elegant” the BMW 1 Series is a compact hatchback boasting a front engine, rear wheel drive with three or five doors.

In obtaining an ideal body weight distribution the BMW 1 Series’ rear wheel drive plays an important part. The BMW 1 Series also has an aluminum front axle which helps perfectly balance between axles, improving handling and holding on fast bends.  The Multi-link rear suspension ensures accuracy of wheel position.

The BMW 1 Series employs an electronic chassis control system as a standard feature. This Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) monitors the chassis and wheels and reduces drive power and applies precisely measured braking pressure in relation to traction loss.  For extra traction the DSC can also been employed for difficult surfaces and reflects the BMW 1 Series combination of greater safety and increased driving pleasure.  The BMW 1 Series also comes with an optional Active Steering system that adjusts the steering ratio to the car’s speed, thus increasing agility and cornering ability.

The BMW 1 Series has a five –star Euro NCAP rating for adult occupant safety and this is reflected in the incorporated safety features. The passive safety system incorporates crash sensors with immediate response, belt force tensioners and six airbags. The BMW 1 Series also features a Brake Force Display designed to alert drivers behind. This system illuminates the main light element for normal braking but for harder, sudden braking the entire brake light glows red.  Reinforcements in the BMW 1 Series body around the front and sides helps protect the driver and passengers in an impact situation. The bumpers of the 1 Series can completely absorb the forces of impact at speeds below 4 km/h leaving the body undamaged.

Gearbox Six-speed manual is standard on all but the base model 116i.  The BMW 1 Series also features a
Start/Stop button, at traffic lights the auto start-spot function allows you to go into neutral and the engine cuts out and then restart instantly when the clutch is dropped again.

The BMW 1 Series also comes with an optional navigation system that uses the iDrive system. This iDrive system controls various other functions such as cabin climate control, entertainment options and communications.  The HiFi systems features subwoofers beneath the front seats and ten speakers with surround sound.  Using the AUX port, you can connect external devices such as MP3 players to all HiFi systems. The BMW 3 Series Saloon features the xDrive all-wheel drive system.  On wintry roads the xDrive system senses the possibility of under-or oversteering and redistributes power between the axles within milliseonds. On dry roads the xDrive distributes 40% of power to the front wheels and 60% to the rear. This system combined with the Dynamic Stability Control system provides increaseed traction, directional stability and safety.

Even in the most difficult situations the Active safety System is engaged with a singular object of keeping the BMW 3 Series Saloon safely on track. This Active Safety System employs a precisely-designed network of suspension, engine management, brakes and tyres, plus an array of electronic sensors, giving the driver maximum control and ensuring maximum safety. The Brake Force Display is also an added alert to drivers behind in cases of extreme braking.

Safety is reflected throughout the design of the BMW 3 Series making it one of the safest vehicles on the road. Six standard airbags, restraint system, seatbelt tensioners and force limiters along a safety body shell, reinforced in specific zones.

The iDrive system controls various functions such as cabin climate control, entertainment options and communications.  Active Cruise Control System in the BMW 3 Series actively reduces and resumes Cruise Control in response to sensored traffic. Adaptive Headlights Sensors in the BMW 3 Series Saloon monitor the rate of yaw, the steering angle and the vehicle's speed and the xenon headlights move in correlation with the bend ahead.
